BEML is a PSU of strategic importance in the defence sector. It manufactures missile launchers, tank aggregates, armoured recovery vehicles (ARV) and armoured repair and recovery vehicles (ARRV), bridging systems, transportation trailers, etc. It is precisely for this reason that BEML had been placed under the Ministry of Defence. With its highly capable workers, BEML can play a much bigger role in indigenising defence manufacture, thus reducing the dependence on foreign countries.

CEL workers step up struggle against privatisation
The Central Government has put on hold, the privatisation of Central Electronics Limited (CEL). The letter of intent (LoI) for sale of 100 per cent government shareholding in CEL to Nandal Finance & Leasing has not been issued, according to the Secretary of Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), which is in charge of the privatisation process. The government is examining the objections raised by the employees’ union to the privatisation of CEL, he said.

Bank workers strike against privatisation!
Nearly 9,00,000 bank workers participated in the strike, resulting in the closure of banking operations of all the public sector banks. Striking the pose of a great statesman, Prime Minister Modi announced on 19th November that the three farm laws will be repealed soon. He apologized to the people of the country for not being able to convince some kisans about the benefits of these three laws. He claimed that these laws are especially for the benefit of small farmers, hiding the fact that they are designed to benefit monopoly capitalist companies. He promised to continue working “for the country”, while his government continues to work for the Tatas, Ambanis, Birlas, Adanis and other monopoly capitalist houses.
