Statement of the Central Committee of the Communist Ghadar Party of India, 23 January, 2020

On 26th January, tanks and missile launchers will roll down Rajpath.  Fighter planes will dominate the skies in the capital. The military might of the Indian Republic will be showcased before the whole world. Our rulers will boast that "All is well" with the Republic.

From Kashmir to Kerala and Maharashtra to Manipur, every Indian knows that all is not well with the Republic.

Supreme Court declines to stay Electoral Bonds Scheme

Responding to a petition filed by the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Association for Democratic Reforms and Common Cause, a three judge bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice S. A. Bobde, declined to grant a stay on the electoral bonds scheme. The Court gave the Central Government and the Election Commission two weeks’ time to file a reply to the petitions.

Protests against CAA-NRC continue across the Globe

On 26th January 2020, on the 71st anniversary of the Indian Republic, protest demonstrations took place in many cities of the US where thousands of people of Indian origin participated. Demonstrations were held particularly in New York, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta and San Francisco having Indian consulates, and at the Indian Embassy in Washington DC. Many other demonstrations took place in other parts of the world.

Government looting the people by taxing petrol and diesel

When the Narendra Modi led NDA Government took power in May 2014, the international price of crude oil was over $105 per barrel, but by December 2014 the prices crashed to nearly half, US $ 60 per barrel.  However, petrol and diesel prices were not accordingly reduced in India. Today also the price of crude oil is at US $ 60 per barrel but the prices Indian people pay for petrol and diesel are at the same level as they were in May 2014!

Brutal police attack on electricity workers in Patna

On 27th January 2020, the electricity workers held a demonstration outside the Vidyut Bhavan in Patna, the capital city of Bihar to oppose the privatisation of electric supply. The government is planning to go ahead with privatisation dispite strong opposition of the workers.
