On the 163rd Anniversary of the Ghadar of 1857:

Onward with the struggle of the People to become the Master of India!

“Hum hain iske malik!  Hindustan Humara!”,  [India belongs to us; We are her master!]

With this slogan reverberating in their hearts and minds, rebellious Indian soldiers in the British colonial army stationed at Meerut arrived in Delhi on 10th May, 1857. That was the signal for revolts against the rule of the British all over the subcontinent.

From our readers: My Experience of the cruel state

The lockdown immediately rendered jobless workers like us who work in the construction sector and are based in Navi Mumbai, Panvel and Badlapur, adjoining Mumbai in Maharashtra. Many people working on the aluminium windows in the buildings of construction projects stay in Badlapur and Panvel. As the lockwon-2 was drawing to a close we realised that it would be extended and we had no alternative but to decide to return to our villages. As this is the season for reaping the harvest, we workers had already emptied our pockets by sending money home.

From our readers: Resist the laws allowing 12-hour day

I am writing in response to the article entitled `Condemn laws allowing 12-hour shift' carried on the web-site of the CGPI which has been posted in May 2020.  I would like to join you in the protest against this barbaric act by the various governments against the length and breadth of the country. It is obvious that the capitalists have capitalized on the crisis situation prevailing in the country due to the Covid-19 related lockdown that started in the month of March 2020. As it is the working people are reeling under the shock of the lockdown and now this.

On the Occasion of the 202nd Birth Anniversary of Karl Marx:

Times are calling for the transition from capitalism to socialism

Karl_Marx

“Let the ruling classes tremble at a communistic revolution. The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win.  Workers of all countries, Unite!”  These legendary words of the Communist Manifesto reverberated throughout the world on 5th May, the birth anniversary of Karl Marx.  They are touching a chord among the millions of proletarians whose anger against the ruling bourgeoisie is reaching a peak at this time.

Statement of Mazdoor Ekta Committee, 10th May 2020

Resolutely combat the plans of the bourgeoisie to intensify the exploitation of workers using the Coronavirus pandemic as an excuse!

Unite to establish a society that will guarantee the well-being of workers!

India’s biggest capitalists are announcing several plans to intensify the exploitation of workers in the coming days even as the country is going through the Coronavirus pandemic.

In the name of “overcoming the economic crisis arising out of the pandemic” the central government and various state governments – Punjab, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and others – have suspended the existing labour laws for the next three years and have announced many exemptions to the capitalists with the intent of intensifying the exploitation of the workers.

Condemn laws allowing 12-hour shift

The capitalist class has launched a massive onslaught on the rights of workers of our country. In the conditions of the declaration of a health emergency accompanied by a country wide lock down, it is ramrodding one anti worker measure after another down the throats of the working class. One of the most basic rights of workers has been the limiting of the working day to 8 hours, and the working week to 48 hours, which is codified in the Factories Act, 1948. Over the past one month, one state government after another, irrespective of which party is in power in the state, has been passing ordinances extending the working day to 12 hours and the working week to 72 hours.

From our readers: Comrade Nexhmije Hoxha

I was saddened to hear of the passing away of Com. Nexhmije Hoxha earlier this year at the age of 99.  The lives of such persons will always be a beacon to the generations that follow.  We in the revolutionary camp believe that it is human beings that can solve the problems of human society, and when we look back and reflect on the lives of revolutionaries we learn from them.

From our readers: Capitalism - an inhuman system

The Call of the Central Committee of the CGPI on the occasion of May Day very correctly analyses that, in the light of recent developments, “capitalism stands nakedly exposed as an inhuman system, geared to keep enriching a super-rich minority at the cost of millions of human lives.”  Nowhere has this been more apparent than in the way that crores upon crores of migrant workers have been treated during the corona virus outbreak in our country.

Immediately after the lockdown was announced, the Finance Minister announced with great fanfare grandiose schemes of crores of rupees to help working people who have lost their livelihood as a result. Distribution of grain and pulses along with some other food stuff was one of the announcements. But the real situation on the ground continues to be terrible for crores of working people across the country.
