The 39th Founding anniversary of Communist Ghadar Party of India was vigorously celebrated in Toronto with speeches, reciting of poems and discussions on the present situation in India and other parts of the world.
Com Gurdev talked of how the Indian government first abolished article 370 in Kashmir and then to further divert and attack the people, it passed CAA, NRC and NPR. By making these laws it has divided the people, isolating the people of Muslim faith. He further talked of how the Indian state is terrorising and killing the students and other working people who are peacefully demonstrating against these laws. He said these laws are facing opposition throughout the world .
Talking about the economic conditions of India he said the GDP is falling, the big corporations and industrialists have unconditional support from the government to exploit the people. The farmers are being forced to commit suicides in face of rising debts and poverty. He pointed out that the CAA and NRC are making people helpless and diverting them from real problems and issues. The parasitic nature of the economy is intensifying. The poor are getting poorer and rich getting richer.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the imperialists claimed that free market economy, multi-party democracy and globalisition and liberalisation will solve the problems of people. About 100 wars are going on in the world at this time, and an unprecedented scale of weapons and military equipment is being produced and supplied all over the world.US has over 100 army bases throughout the world. Trade wars are escalating as tarrifs and sanctions are being forced on many countries.
The liberation movement in India fragmented into many groups after Naxalbari. Most parties followed euro-centrism forgetting Indian revolutionary traditions that if the ruler cannot provide his people sukh and suraksha people have every right to replace him. The Communist Ghadar party of India, since its founding in 1980, has been working on many fronts; it is working for Communist unity and upholds the principle that proletariat is the leading force in the struggle for the progress of society.
