‘Raj Badalo-Samaj Badalo’, Conference Held In Bhatinda
On January 31st, a major Conference was held in Bhatinda, a district town of Punjab, on the topic ‘Raj Badalo (Change the present state) -Samaj Badalo’ (Change the society). This conference was organised by a committee of left and progressive leaders including Shinder Singh Nathuwala, Jhanda Singh Jhethuke, Buta Singh Burj Gill, Pavel Kussa, Lal Singh Golewala, Kamaljit Khanna and others who also spoke in the conference. The conference was attended by about 20,000 people.
Speakers said, that the people burdened with petty rivalry and provocations thrown at each other by the leaders of the parliamentary parties, must move towards the establishment of a genuinely pro-people state by building the appropriate organisations to achieve this, instead of relying on the so called right to vote.
Case registered against the organisers two days after the Conference An FIR was launched against the organisers of the conference ‘Raj Badalo-Samaj Badalo’ by the Police Station, Civil Lines, Bhatinda which filed a case under article 188. This Conference was held in Bhatinda on January 31st. The filing of the FIR was based on a complaint made by the Election Officials of Bhatinda Urban, Assembly Constituency. The Election official has accused the organisers of holding the Conference on a government land without prior permission. The organisers of the ‘Raj Badalo-Samaj Badalo’ Conference say that they had given notice of the Conference to the City Police Chief and the Deputy Commissioner. The Police Chief and the Deputy Commissioner had not issued a notice to them nor denied permission to hold the Conference. Mazdoor Ekta Lehar demands that false cases registered against these leaders be immediately withdrawn. |
Speakers further said, that in the existing electoral system only individuals and parties take each other’s place, but the state system which oppresses the people, exploits and marginalises them stays on and is not touched.
It was also pointed out that through this fraudulent electoral politics, ruling classes are suppressing the real issues concerning people and are clouding their consciousness for struggle and are dividing them. There is need to take drastic steps to solve the problems of unemployment, rising prices, poverty, malnutrition, suicides, etc.
At this conference, the comrades of the Communist Ghadar Party of India, distributed thousands of copies of the call of the Party titled: ‘Only the path of Ghadaris can save Punjab’ issued on the occasion of the Punjab Assembly Elections.
The CGPI comrades also set up a stall at the venue and sold several important documents of the Party, including ‘Reports of the Third and Fourth Congress of the Communist Ghadar Party of India’, ‘Whither India’, ‘What Kind of Party’, ‘On the Note Ban: Real aims and False Claims’ and many more. People who came to the stall mentioned that they had seen the Party’s call on the elections and were appreciative of its contents.
