The Editor,
The Editor,
I am writing to thank you for the article entitled “Gruesome confirmation of brutal state terror in Kashmir'' in the September 16-30, 2011 issue of MEL. The article summarizes very succinctly what every thinking Indian knows already. The history of the last couple of decades in the Kashmir valley has been a blood drenched one, and the valley has been a virtual prison for the people living there under what is de facto army rule, with a crony civilian Government of traitors and parasites. The article is correct in pointing out that the history of the region is one of atrocity and worst kind of state terror and human rights abuse and has reached an unacceptable point. It calls for the immediate repeal of the hated Armed Forces Special Powers Act and to send the army back to the barracks.
Given the above, I would like to thank the CGPI for its consistent and principled stand on the matter. It stems from the advanced theoretical preparation of the Party based on the principles of Marxism-Leninism. The question of the rights of nations has in the past been debated in these circles, and the question refuses to die down. It is only by confronting this issue head-on that a clear line can be found on the question. While there are several lines of conciliation with the bourgeoisie which deliberately distort the issue, and which take the opportunist line of hiding behind cliches such as `unity and integrity' of the country, the principled line is one that is based on the ground reality of India.
Sincerely,
S. Nair,
