Protest in support of the workers of Maruti Suzuki

Mazdoor Ekta Committee, All India Federation of Trade Unions, Inquilabi Mazdoor Kendra, Indian Federation of Trade Union, Indian Council of Trade Unions, Mazdoor Ekta Kendra and thousands of workers of various organizations jointly participated in a protest in support of the struggle of the workers of Maruti-Suzuki at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on 15th October 2011.

Mazdoor Ekta Committee, All India Federation of Trade Unions, Inquilabi Mazdoor Kendra, Indian Federation of Trade Union, Indian Council of Trade Unions, Mazdoor Ekta Kendra and thousands of workers of various organizations jointly participated in a protest in support of the struggle of the workers of Maruti-Suzuki at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on 15th October 2011. They burned effigies of the management of Maruti-Suzuki and the Haryana government.

At Jantar Mantar, the protestors shouted slogans and gave warning to the Haryana Government – ‘HUDA government stop protecting the Management!’, ‘Stop illegal lockouts!’, ‘An attack on one is an attack on all!’, ‘Down with the anti-worker policies of the Congress Government of Haryana!’, ‘Central and State government stop trying to oppress the struggle of the workers of Maruti-Suzuki!’.

Addressing the gathering, the speaker of Mazdoor Ekta Committee said we support the just strike by the workers of Maruti-Suzuki, who are demanding that their right to form unions be reinstated and suspended workers be given their jobs back. He also stressed that the working class will have to step up the struggle to gain political power.

All speakers who addressed the gathering, wholeheartedly supported the just struggle of the workers of Maruti-Suzuki and agreed that the movement be strengthened and stepped up. The protestors sent a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Haryana and Central Labour Minister, demanding the immediate acceptance of the demands of the workers.
