That immediate measures be taken to control the prices of food items — foodgrains, pulses, sugar and other essentials, and that a universal modern Public Distribution System which supplies food items at controlled prices of good quality to all people is the central demand of the working class.

Another demand is that the Unorganised Workers Social Security Act 2008 must be expanded to ensure that the restrictions in it which are based on declaring workers above the government declared poverty line as illegible are ended.

Workers are also demanding strict enforcement of all labour laws without any exception or exemption and stringent punitive measures for violation of labour laws.

Workers are demanding that there must be no privatization of PSUs under any name or form.

In Delhi, the trade unions and working class organizations are demanding an immediate hike in the minimum wages to 8,500 Rupees a month, given the present cost of living.

Mazdoor Ekta Lehar hails the action of the working class, and calls upon all workers, irrespective of party and union affiliation, to make this a success.
