Former Pakistani Prime Minister and leader of the Pakistan People's Party, Benazir Bhutto was assassinated at the end of an election rally in Rawalpindi on December 27, 2007. Pakistan has been plunged deeper into chaos and anarchy. The spiraling violence and instability in Pakistan today is a direct fall-out of the growing US imperialist presence and interference in this part of the world. The Communist Ghadar Party of India condemns the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. Politics of assassination serves only the imperialist and reactionary interests. It does not benefit any section of the people who are striving for freedom and social progress.
In recent times all sections of the people of Pakistan have been out on the streets in large numbers in protest against the anti-people policies pursued by their rulers. The US imperialists and their agents in Pakistan have been trying to manipulate events to ensure that their interests are safeguarded. The assassination of Benazir Bhutto needs to be seen within this context.
The working class and people of India feel horror and revulsion at the dastardly politics of assassination that has led to such tragic loss of life in Pakistan, and express deepest condolences to all those who have suffered. In these difficult moments for the fraternal people of Pakistan, the Indian working class expresses its solidarity with the workers and working people of Pakistan We will fight all attempts on the part of the US and other external powers to interfere and dominate South Asia. We will also oppose attempts of the ruling class in India to play imperialist geopolitics in this region.
