Newspaper employees organized a powerful demonstration in front of the lbour ministry demanding the immediately implementation of the recommendations of the wage board headed by Justice Majitia. It may be recalled that this wageboard gave its recommendations on December 31, 2010. The newspaper employees have expressed resentment at the delay in government and the labour ministry accepting its recommendations and making sure they were implemented.

The newspaper employees have expressed resentment at the delay in government and the labour ministry accepting its recommendations and making sure they were implemented.
The protest was organized under the banner of Confederation of Newspaper and News agencies Employees Organisation. There was a big delegation of employees from Chandigarh from the Tribune Trust. They were demaning the reinstatement of employees who have been terminated for trade union activity. Journalists, as well as other employees of newspapers and agencies participated in this demonstration. They came from unions in UNI, PTI, Times of India, Indian Express alongside of federations like, AIRNEF, IFWJ, NUJ, DUJ, Delhi press Unity Center, Association of Accredited news c and National Alliance of Journalists, amongst other organisations.
