The election results were declared on August 20, 2010. Lok Raj Sangathan organised a rally in the heart of the city, thanking people of Nohar for voting for Mehrunisa Tank, whose candidature was supported by Lok Raj Sangathan. The people of Nohar felt proud of being able to select and voting for a candidate who was one amongst them. Their pride and happiness could be seen on their faces.
Member of Rajasthan Council of Lok Raj Sangathan worked tirelessly for the campaign to bring people to power by participating vigorously in the election. They took the programme of the Lok Raj Sangathan to every corner of the town, wherein people selected their own candidate, campaigned and finally voted for the people's candidate. The effects of this campaign is being felt not only in Hanumangarh but the across the state.
This is an unprecedented event in the history of Nohar when 29 members elected to the 30 member board are independents. Besides, 75 members of the 130 members of five 5 Municipal Boards of Bhadra, Nohar, Ravatsar, Pilibanga, and Sangaria, are independents. Congress could win only 35 seats, while BJP got only 15 seats.
Mehrunisa Tank who stood for the post of president of Nohar Municipal Corporation came second with 8939 votes, while Congress Party got 3237, BJP got 638 and BSP could get only 353 votes.
Selection of People’s Candidate in Nohar
Rajasthan Council of Lok Raj Sangathan organised a public meeting on August 9 in Narvada Bhiyani College. Candidates for the post of Chairperson of Municipal Corporation were invited to present their views and programme to the people of the constituency.
Showing respect to the call given by Lok Raj Sangathan all the candidates participated in the public meeting and presented their views and program. Agreeing with the programme of Lok Raj Sangathan, Mehrunisa Tank expressed her desire to stand as people's candidate.
Next day, on August 10, Lok Raj Sangathan called a public meeting to formally declare its support to her candidature
Public Rally in Support of People’s Candidate
A huge mass rally was organized in support of the people’s candidate on August 14, 2010. Thousands of people including workers, peasants, women, youth and intellectuals participated in the rally.
Huge participation by all sections of people in the rally upset the parties of the big bourgeoisie Congress and BJP and local Mafia. When the campaign of people’s candidate Mehrunisa Tank was flagged off with green flag, Congress and BJP tried their dirty tricks by spreading rumors and giving a communal color to the campaign, and playing vote bank politics. People’s candidate from Lok Raj Sangathan and its members gave a fitting reply to such rumors and continued their campaign.
Public Meeting in Support of People’s Candidate
On 15 August 2010, Lok Raj Sangathan organised a public meeting in Chachan Katlaa. Members of Lok Raj Sangathan and people from the town marched towards the venue shouting slogans “Lok Raj Sangathan Zindabad”, “Inquilaab Zindabaad”, carrying flags in their hands. More than 5000 people participated in the public meeting.
Inspite of the rains people welcomed the people’s candidate to the stage. She exposed the lies behind the rumors spread by Congress, BJP and the Rajendra mafia Group. Concluding her speech she called upon people to come forward to fulfill the dreams of our martyrs by taking political power in their own hands.
Addressing the public meeting All India Vice President of Lok Raj Sangathan Shri Hanuman Prasad Sharma, said that the existing political system which is based in western (European) parliamentary model is a burden on people back. The candidates of the political parties of the big capitalists and their high command is controlled by these big capitalists. These parties come to power through money and muscle power, by dividing people on the basis of religion, caste, region, language etc, and control the central state. Common people are completely marginalized. Lok Raj Sangathan is calling upon people to challenge the candidates set up by high-commands of these parties by selecting and electing their own people’s candidates.
Many other speakers including Secretary of Haryana Council of Lok Raj Sangathan Com. Duni Chand, J D Chaudhari, Vikram Singh (Former Sarpanch Goga Medhi), Kausal Saharan, Satveer Swami, Rafiq Chauhan, addressed the meeting and appealed to people to vote for people’s candidate Mehrunisa Tank.
On 16 August, Lok Raj Sangathan organised another huge public meeting at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk, to counter the rumors being spread by Congress, BJP, and Rajendra Mafia group, and affirm communal harmony.
In this meeting, Shri Hanuman Prasad Sharma took the communal propaganda head-on and asserted that these parties are spreading communal propaganda to break the unity of people. But from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, from Rameshwaram to Ganga Sagar people are one, and such Mir Jafars have not been able to break this unity. In Nohar also they will not succeed on the nefarious games of dividing people. He appealed to people to rise above the petty differences and vote for people’s candidate and defeat the system of party rule.
President of Rajasthan Council of Lokraj Sangathan, Comrade Madan Beniwal, Secretary Comrade Om Sahu, Sarpanch Ujval Vaas, Comrade Hansraj, J D Chaudhari, vice-president Jaimal Swami, Mehboob Khan. Suresh Soni, Dashrath Kasnia, Karnail Saharan, Krishna Mahip, Jaiveer Godra, Vikram Singh (former Sarpanch Goga Medhi), Satveer Swami, and many other speakers addressed the meeting and appealed to people to vote for people’s candidate. The meeting was convened by Rafiq Chauhan.
Concluding the meeting, people’s candidate Mehrunisa Tank asserted that “This is people’s Victory”. The decision will be taken by people, and I have to implement it. In case I am not able to full fill my responsibility, people have the right to recall me.
More than 6000 people participated in the meeting. The meeting concluded with song “Hum honge kaamyaab…”. Mehrunisa Tank thanked people for participating in the meeting despite of intense heat.
