Protest action in Delhi against growing Indo-Israel ties!

The demonstration was organized jointly by the seven communist parties – Communist Party of India (Marxist), Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) – Liberation, Revolutionary Socialist Party, All India Forward Bloc, Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) and Communist Ghadar Party of India.

Hundreds of political activists, students and youth gathered at the junction of India Gate circle and Shahjahan Road, under the banner of Citizens Against Israeli Aggression! They carried banners of the participating organisations as well as placards bearing slogans denouncing the Israeli occupation of Palestine and the growing ties between India and Israel.

The protestors were prevented by Delhi police from marching up to the Israeli Embassy. A public meeting was held at India Gate, at which speakers from all the participating organisations addressed the gathering.

Speakers unanimously condemned the Israeli aggression and occupation of Palestine. They denounced the growing strategic, military and economic ties between the Indian State and Israel. They pointed out how the Indian ruling class is taking our country on to a very dangerous course, which poses a grave threat to peace and security in the region. They reaffirmed the long-standing support of the Indian people for the cause of the Palestinian people and their just struggle for the restoration of their national rights.

Speakers who addressed the meeting included comrade Prakash Karat of CPM, comrade D. Raja of CPI, comrade Santosh Kumar of CGPI, comrade Ravi Rai of CPIML Lib, comrade Satyabhan of SUCI(C) and comrade Shatrujit of RSP. Several other participants denounced the growing Indo-Israeli ties and expressed solidarity with the cause of the Palestinian people.
