New Year’s Message

Dear Comrades,

The year 2014 will be the 65^th year of the Republic of India, which was established after the end of British colonial rule.  What were our people’s hopes and aspirations 65 years ago?  Where do we stand today?  

Leaders and activists of the Mazdoor Ekta Committee have been vigorously participating in the struggle of the workers of the Airports Authority of India against privatization of the airports of Chennai, Kolkota and four other cities.

The political and economic system needs to be changed, not merely the party in power

The schedule for the Assembly elections to the states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Mizoram and Delhi has been announced by the Election Commission. These elections will be held in November and December 2013.

The Prime Minister and his Party colleagues, as well as the leaders of the opposition never refrain from talking about Jammu and Kashmir as being an integral part of India, and blaming Pakistan for the violence in Kashmir. However the attitude of the Indian state to the people of Kashmir has not been one of treating them as a colonial or imperial power would treat its subjects.

Necessity to carry out thorough going electoral reforms

On September 27, 2013, a three judge bench of the Supreme Court ruled that the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM’s) used in elections must have a “none of the above” (NOTA) button at the end as an option.
