Israt Jehan, a first year college student of Mumbai and her friends were kidnapped and brutally murdered by the orders of top officers of the Gujarat Police and the Intelligence Bureau 10 years ago. Their murder was declared an “encounter”. For ten years, the families of Israt Jehan and her murdered friends have been fighting for justice.

On July 2, the plane carrying the President of Bolivia, Evo Morales, was raided by officials in Vienna airport in Austria, at the behest of the US imperialists, to allegedly search for the presence of Edward Snowden, the man who had earlier leaked the damaging information about American cyber-espionage.

Workers of Bajaj Auto’s Chakan Plant which produces Pulsar Motorcycles have been on indefinite strike from June 25, 2013. This followed the refusal of the management to have discussions with the union on negotiating a new wage agreement, which was due.

Workers of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation went on indefinite strike from July 3, 2013 in protest against the decision of the Central government to disinvest 5 % shares of the NLC. The call for the strike was called by all the unions of workers of NLC. There are 27,000 workers employed in the NLC.

All India Railwaymen Federation, Confederation of Central Government Employees’ Association and All India Defence Employees Association have threatened to go on strike if the Centre fails to meet their charter of demands, including constitution of the Seventh Pay Commission.

Contract workers employed by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) organized under the banner of the Delhi Metro Rail Kamgar Union (DMRKU) have protested their termination from June 1 as a result of their contract being ended.

Sanitation workers employed by the three Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCD) are agitating for their just demands. They have threatened to go on strike if the Corporations do not accede to these demands.

According to the workers, the unified MCD had promised to make them permanent employees and give them their arrears. However these promises had not been fulfilled.
