Divisive and diversionary tactics

The ruling class is geared up to push ahead full steam with capitalist reforms. The new government has lost no time in announcing measures that have gladdened the hearts of the big bourgeoisie, while stepping up the exploitation and oppression of the working class and people.

In February 2014 the ASSOCHAM (Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India), an organisation of the capitalists, issues a press release, according to which between 2008-09 and 2012-13, the number of contract workers increased by 39% over the entire country. The use of contract labour has increased in all such sectors where work is of a permanent nature.

Workers killed in “accidents in Bhilai” and Vizag steel plants

At least six workers of Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) were killed and over 30 injured due to leaking of poisonous gas on the night of June 12, 2014. Soon after this, two engineers were killed on the steel melting shop 2 of Vizag steel plant on June 16, 2014.

Hundreds of workers are on strike in the Wazirpur Industrial Area of Delhi. These are workers of hot rolling mills, and have been on strike with the demand for better working conditions and implementation of labour laws.

30 years after one of the most horrific attacks on the people of the Sikh faith, the Army attack on the Golden Temple in Amritsar, the deep anger among our people at this indignity persists.

Several events were organised around the world to mark the 30^th anniversary of the attack by the central armed forces of the Indian State on the Harmander Sahib, the holy Sikh shrine within the Golden Temple at Amritsar.
