Dear comrades,

As the year 2012 comes to an end, we have seen mass outrage being expressed on the streets of Delhi and other cities against the existing rotten social and political system which permits the most horrendous crimes against women.

University, school students and working class youth are out in the streets of the national capital asking for justice from a political system and its ruling class that has secured its own selfish interest at the expense of the vast majority.

The Central Committee of the Communist Ghadar Party of India deeply grieves the passing away of our dear T.S. Sankaran, fondly known as Mama by all the comrades of the Party, on December 15, 2012 at the age of 86 in Chennai.

Our Party dips its red banner in salute to this exemplary personality, whose word and deed always matched. His life and work will always be an example of inspiration for us communists, and for all those who have had the opportunity to work or interact with him in the course of his multifaceted life. The Central Committee of our Party extends its deep felt condolences to his dear wife and to all the members of his beloved family who have suffered an irreparable loss.

On the night of 16th December in Delhi, a 23 year old para-medical student was gang raped in a moving bus. People of Delhi have being pouring out onto the streets to express their anger.

Condemn the continued violation of Syria’s sovereignty by the US imperialists

Completely disregarding the principle of respecting the independence and sovereignty of countries and people, on 12th December 2012, the USA has recognized the “national coalition of Syrian revolutionary forces” (the opposition) as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had a summit meeting with Prime Minister Mamohan Singh on December 24, 2012. This was the 13th Consecutive Annual Summit between the leaders of the two countries. During the Cold War period, India and the Soviet Union had a strategic relationship with each other.

Various trade unions and workers’ organisations across the country organized a rally and demonstration in front of the Parliament on December 20th against the capitalist policies of the UPA government. This was an important programme in the context of the government’s economic policies and attacks on the working class.

Various women’s organisations held a public hearing in Parliament Street in Delhi on the issue of food security on 18th December. Hundreds of women participated in this event.
