Struggle of tea-garden workers

The relay hunger strike of tea-garden workers in Darjeeling, under the leadership of Hill Plantations Employees Union, is continuing since 8 October. Tea-garden workers are fighting a militant struggle for their just demand of bonus payments. Every day a new group of workers is joining the hunger strike. The participation of women workers in the entire struggle and in the hunger-strike is very strong and militant.

The struggle of the workers dismissed by Maruti Suzuki continues

On 18 October 2024, the dismissed workers of Maruti Suzuki along with their family members organized a protest meeting in front of Manesar Tehsil in Haryana. Ignoring the pressure from the administration and police, this meeting was organized in support of the demand for the reinstatement of dismissed employees, proper wage agreement and permanent employment for temporary employees in Maruti Suzuki.

A win for Samsung’s Sriperumbudur unit workers

On 15 October, the employees of the Sriperumbudur unit of Samsung Electronics held several rounds of talks with the state government and the company management. Through this process, they were successful in getting their demands accepted. Thereafter, the workers announced that they would end their 37-day strike.

Gherao of District Collectorate in support of demand for purchase at MSP

Farmers and workers jammed the Bharat Mata chowk at Hanumangarh district in Rajasthan with their protests on 8 October. This action was in support of their demand that the kharif crops – moong, paddy, bajra and peanuts – should be purchased at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the respective crop.The plan to hold the protest was made on 4 October at the site. The program was organised under the banner of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha.
