On 24^th August 2023, repair work was going on at an old petrol pump building in Jalandhar, Punjab. The roof of the petrol pump suddenly collapsed while it was being repaired, killing two workers and injuring another two.

Government spokesmen claim that India is the fastest growing major economy of the world. However, the number of jobs is not growing and the quality of available jobs is deteriorating. All India United Convention of Workers and Peasants

A joint convention was organized by Central Trade Unions, Federations, Associations and Samyukt Kisan Morcha at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi on August 24, 2023. The convention announced the aim of workers and peasants to intensify the united struggle against the anti-worker, anti-farmer, anti-people and anti-national policies of the government.

Militant struggle of people of Bhiwandi against Torrent Power Ltd

On 15th August, hundreds of people of Bhiwandi, a town close to Mumbai, came out on streets demanding “Freedom from Torrent Power!” Prior to this on 21st July also more than ten thousand people of Bhiwandi had organized a demonstration under the slogan “Torrent Hatao Bhiwandi Bachao”.

15th Summit Meeting of BRICS countries

The Summit announced that 6 countries have been admitted as members of BRICS from January 1, 2024. These are Argentine, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Taken together, the expanded forum includes four of the biggest oil exporting countries of the world (Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iran and UAE) and two of the largest oil importers of the world (China and India) as its members.

Health workers of Tamilnadu organised a rally in defence of their rights on 18^th August, 2023. Hundreds of health workers participated in the rally held in the Rajarathinam stadium in Chennai. They included nurses, ambulance workers, paramedical technicians and Ayush workers.
