The article, “Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Elections: Elections in this system serve to maintain the rule of capitalist monopoly houses”, in the December 16-31 issue of MEL, has correctly pointed out that both the Congress and BJP when in command have implemented the program of the big capitalist monopoly houses and have pushed the program of capitalist globalisation at the expense of the working people.

The article entitled `”War against terrorism” is the banner behind which US imperialism is trying to establish its domination over Asia’ was very straightforward and logical. The lessons of the Russian Revolution will always be a beacon for communists now and in the future. The article gives the history of the period just before the Revolution took place as well as the events that allowed the watershed revolution.

As mentioned in the article “the government of Pakistan has refused to send its armed forces into Afghanistan”, this step is understandable given the experience Pakistan has had with the US. Every time Pakistan has allowed US to interfere within its boundaries or taken assistance from the US it has met with ill-fate. And now the US is ensuring that Pakistan is globally deemed a terrorist state, building the scene for something that needs to be dealt with as part of its “war on terrorism”. From Pakistan’s experience, one would think it wise to be wary of USA’s “friendship” judging from the way the US has repaid Pakistan for being an ally. If the Indian state were to evaluate the situation keeping in mind the security of its people and not the selfish expansionist interests of the bourgeoisie, it would be obvious that being an ally to the USA comes at a very high cost and will only lead to destruction and devastation of the region.
