Militant demonstration in London

Saturday 26th March was a historic and proud day for all working people of Britain. Almost a million people marched through the streets of London protesting against the cuts to welfare and public services, corporate bail-outs, and wars of aggression in the Middle East and South Asia.  Central London was brought to a standstill by students, pensioners, trade unionists, anti-war protesters along with masses of working people marching in solidarity.

Newspaper employees demand implementation of wage board recommendations

Newspaper employees organized a powerful demonstration in front of the lbour ministry demanding the immediately implementation of the recommendations of the wage board headed by Justice Majitia. It may be recalled that this wageboard gave its recommendations on December 31, 2010. The newspaper employees have expressed resentment at the delay in government and the labour ministry accepting its recommendations and making sure they were implemented.

Hotel employees organize for rights

Representatives of Hotel Employees from seven states representing 46 unions met in Goa in March in a delegates conference of the Hotel Employees Federation of India (HEFOI). Formed in 2007, HEOFI is a trade union federation of hotel and catering workers, uniting workers of the industry across party lines.
