Peasants of Tamil Nadu continue to agitate in various districts. They are demanding guaranteed minimum support price for all their produce, adequate supply of urea and other fertilizers at affordable prices, withdrawal of the Electricity Amendment Act, proper compensation for the crops lost in floods, crop insurance and an end to the forcible acquisition of agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes.

Since November 16, thousands of kisans have been on ‘indefinite protest’ over non-fulfilment of their pending demands. The agitating kisans blocked highways in six districts, including Mansa, Bathinda, Patiala, Faridkot, Mukerian and Amritsar. They held protest demonstrations at the offices of the district authorities.
Continue readingNearly two years ago, kisans of Punjab, Haryana, UP and other parts of the country came together in a massive protest action on the borders of the capital, Delhi. The determination of the kisans to fight for their just demands, in the face of the efforts of the central government to discredit the struggle, has been a source of inspiration to the people of this country and world over. The central government withdrew the three anti kisan laws in November 2021, and give an assurance to the kisans that their other demands would be fulfilled. However, a year after that, most of the assurances given to the kisans remain unfulfilled. The kisans are continuing to wage struggle for their fulfilment.
Continue readingThe 26th of November, 2022, marks the 14th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai. For three nights and days, ten heavily armed terrorists spread mayhem in the city. Their targets included the Chhatrapati Shivaji Railway Terminus, Oberoi Trident, Taj Hotel, Leopold Café, Cama Hospital, Nariman House and the Metro Cinema. As many as 168 people lost their lives, including 25 foreigners.

The DNF has also announced that they will go on mass casual leave on November 16 and go on an indefinite strike from November 30, if their demands are not met.
