Kisans march from Nashik to Mumbai in support of their demands

Thousands of kisans and their supporters began their 200 km long march on 13th March from Nashik in Maharashtra. They are determined to demonstrate in front of the state assembly sometime on 20th or 21st March. This march is reviving memories of a similar march 5 years ago in 2018.

International Women’s Day celebrated in Pune

A program to celebrate International Women’s Day was organised by the Maharashtra State Electricity Workers’ Federation (MSEWF) in Pune on 8th March. Com Bharti Bhoyar, President of the Women’s Front of MSEWF, chaired the meeting. Com Bhoyar emphasised the need for women to fight shoulder to shoulder with their male co-workers, in order to win and defend their rights, as workers and as women.

The struggle for restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for central and state government workers is spreading all across the country with increasing unity and resolve. In Maharashtra too, state government, semi government, teaching and non-teaching employees have declared that they will go on an indefinite strike from 14th March 2023.

Meeting on Occupational Safety, Health and Working conditions

Thousands of workers die due to the unsafe conditions that prevail at work sites. Lakhs of workers are injured or maimed every year. Workers affected by these accidents are thrown out of work, without any compensation. Workers in many industries are perpetually exposed to hazardous conditions, whose ill-effects on their health manifest themselves later. Instead of safeguarding the health, safety and rights of all workers, the OSHW code eliminates a very large number of workers from its coverage, such as those who work in small factories, or on contract basis. Similarly IT employees, delivery workers, taxi drivers, gig workers, etc. are kept out of the purview of this act.
