BSNL contract workers on hunger strike in Kozhikode, Kerala

The casual and contract workers of BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) in Kozhikode and Wayanad districts of Kerala are on a relay hunger strike since April 18. They are protesting against the delay in wage disbursal and denial of social benefits by the outsourcing agencies.

Millions of workers in France oppose the Pension Reforms imposed by the government

Mass protests of workers have been going on in France since January this year. More than a million workers participated in a one-day strike across France, on January 19, 2023. Since then, hundreds of demonstrations have taken place. The number of workers coming out in these protests is reported to be higher than ever seen in the past 40-50 years.

International Women’s Day celebrated in Pune

A program to celebrate International Women’s Day was organised by the Maharashtra State Electricity Workers’ Federation (MSEWF) in Pune on 8th March. Com Bharti Bhoyar, President of the Women’s Front of MSEWF, chaired the meeting. Com Bhoyar emphasised the need for women to fight shoulder to shoulder with their male co-workers, in order to win and defend their rights, as workers and as women.

More than a million workers, cutting across trade union affiliations, unitedly participated in a one-day strike all across France, on January 19, 2023. They were protesting against French President Emmanuel Macron’s plan to raise the legal age of retirement to 64 from 62, thereby denying them their due pension for another two years.

Agricultural workers in Punjab agitate for their demands

Agricultural workers of the Zameen Prapati Sangharsh Committee (ZPSC), Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union, Pendu Mazdoor Union, Punjab Khet Mazdoor Sabha, Mazdoor Mukti Morcha, Kul Hind Khet Mazdoor Union and the Dihati Mazdoor Sabha organised a massive rally at the residence of the Punjab Chief Minister in Sangrur, on November 30.
