The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the governing civic body of Mumbai, has planned to privatise six government hospitals in the city under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
The struggle of Mumbai’s municipal workers against the plan to privatise six major hospitals is an entirely just struggle. It is a struggle in defence of not only the interests of the workers in these facilities but also in the general interests of the entire people. It deserves unconditional support from all sections of the working people.

Who is the roadblock to peace in Manipur?
Masses of people want peace. They want to celebrate their traditional festivals. Those in power do not want this. They do not want the people of Manipur to unite. They want to divide and rule over the people of Manipur, trampling on their democratic and human rights.

An Inhuman Attack on the Working People
The ruthless drive of demolition of people’s homes by the state is just one more example of the utterly inhuman nature of the existing rule of the bourgeoisie, headed by a small number of monopoly capitalist houses. The state protects the “right” of the capitalists to maximise their profits. It does not recognise or protect the right to housing as an inviolable human right of all members of society. Every organ of the state, including the legislature, the bureaucracy and the judiciary plays its role in this systematic violation of human rights in our country.

Decline in Indian people’s purchase of clothes
Life experience is confirming the validity of the conclusions of Karl Marx that capitalist growth produces wealth at one pole and poverty at the other pole, and that it creates its own barrier to capitalist growth. It is capitalism that has resulted in the lack of purchasing power in the hands of working people, which has in turn become a constraint on capitalist growth.

Attempt to take over valuable landed property and divide people along communal lines

The Great Ghadar of 1857 was a defining moment in our history.
It articulated a vision and goal that united peoples of different nationalities and of different languages, castes, tribes and religious beliefs, across the length and breadth of this subcontinent. The lesson of that revolutionary uprising has great relevance today, at a time when the peoples of this subcontinent are being incited to wage war against one another.

India-US Free Trade Agreement:
Will the livelihood of kisans be destroyed to please Indian and American capitalists?
An important fact to note is that those whose interests will be hurt if the US government raises import tariffs on Indian goods are mostly the capitalist exporters of industrial products. Those whose interests will be hurt if India reduces duty rates on American imports include kisans who produce agricultural goods. This is the reason why kisan unions in our country are concerned. They are demanding that the Indian government should protect their interests and not bow to American pressure in order to protect the interests of Indian capitalist exporters.
