Proposed dam over the Siang River:
Arunachal farmers protest against threat of displacement

Farmers of Arunachal Pradesh are protesting against the proposal of the government of India to construct a mega dam, as part of a multipurpose project, on the Siang river. The proposed project is expected to generate 11,300 Mega Watts of electricity. They are fearing that over 150,000 people, mostly from the Adi and other tribes, are likely to be forcibly displaced as a result of the Project.
