Red Salute to the country’s working class for a successful general strike!

The Indian working class carried out a successful general strike on February 20-21 under the leadership of the Trade Union organisations for their demands to put a stop to the price rise, for increasing the minimum wages, against the contract labour system and against the privatisation of public property.

After consulting with the capitalist associations in India and abroad, Chidambaram also held day-long talks with the Congress Working Committee.  The aim of this exercise was to figure out what so-called concessions he ought to highlight in his budget speech, so as to fool the working people and not lose too many votes for the Congress Party in the coming state assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Step up the work of building committees for people’s empowerment!

People’s empowerment is the central problem today and uniting people around this aim is the central task.  Towards this end, we communists must step up the work to establish and strengthen samitis among the workers, peasants, women and youth all over the country!

Both the principal parties of the ruling class, Congress Party and BJP, have very little credibility amongst the masses of working people. The bourgeoisie is hell bent on pushing ahead with the program of globalization through liberalization and privatization by attacking the livelihood and rights of the toilers and tillers. Polarising society on communal lines, spreading terror and breaking the unity of the people, and spreading jingoism against Pakistan are their favourite weapons to ensure that they can implement their plans.
