Ireland – health services cut opposed

Several demonstration and actions have been taking place in Ireland to oppose cuts in health services. One of the latest in a series of demonstrations to oppose the downgrading of hospital services took place in Portiuncula hospital, Ballinasloe, County Galway, on August 16, 2010.

Several demonstration and actions have been taking place in Ireland to oppose cuts in health services. One of the latest in a series of demonstrations to oppose the downgrading of hospital services took place in Portiuncula hospital, Ballinasloe, County Galway, on August 16, 2010.

More than 2,000 hospital staff, former patients and members of community groups formed a human chain around the Portiuncula hospital. Following this, more than 8,000 people demonstrated in Roscommon town at the weekend amidst reports that the hospital there was also facing cuts in services.
