7 October, 2024 marks one year of the ongoing genocidal war launched by Israel against the Palestinian people, in the occupied areas of Gaza and the West Bank, and more recently in Lebanon and other areas. On this occasion, hundreds of people – women, students and youth, workers and people from different walks of life – gathered in a huge show of protest at Jantar Mantar, near the Parliament in New Delhi.

Protest over the death of workers in factory fire

On 22nd February 2024, a large number of workers took out a massive procession and protest in Delhi, from Civil Lines Metro Station to the Labor Commissioner’s office, under the leadership of Joint Trade Union Forum Delhi. The protest was organized to express anger over the death of workers in a factory fire in Alipur, Delhi and to re-highlight workers’ demands regarding safety at the workplace.

Massive morcha of workers on Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in Nagpur
On 18 December 2023, the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) organized a massive morcha in Nagpur, Maharashtra, where the winter session of the state legislature was ongoing. Thousands of workers, most of whom were women from all over the state, came out on the streets to protest against the government’s anti-worker, anti-peasant, and anti-people policies.

Ten central trade unions – INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF and UTUC – have issued a call to organise country-wide protest actions on July 3, opposing the attacks of the government on the rights of workers and working people, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown.
